Failing, broken or decayed restorations on back teeth are a common problem. This young lady elected to have a white filling replacement (composite, Filtek Silorane).
Although there are many ways to get a job done. I believe in using the very best material and the recommended textbook techniques as that I believe is the key to long term success.
The green surrounding in the second picture is a device called a rubber dam which is essential for moisture control and for getting the best out of the material being use.

Tooth decay s the commonest reason for tooth loss in the UK.
This series of pictures show the appearance and subtle signs that lead an experienced clinician to diagnose decay, the appearance of decay once the “apparently healthy” enamel has been removed and the subsequent repair of the tooth.

A formation defect on this upper front tooth means that a deep ditch is present near the gum.
This unsightly region can cause inflammation and recession of the gums if left untreated.
Ideally this case would have benefited from gum surgery to harmonise the level of the gum. The patient however did not mind the slight asymmetry in her gums and elected not to have the surgery.
