Dry socket can occur after wisdom teeth have been removed. Following the procedure, blood clots form to protect the area whilst it heals and it important that these remain intact, in order to avoid dry socket developing.
- Avoid touching the area unnecessarily. Smoking, carbonated drinks and using straws can delay healing.
- Brush and floss regularly to keep the mouth clean and infection free.
- Consult your dentist immediately if you notice sensitivity, discharge or a strange taste after your wisdom teeth have been removed.
